Charles Squire

Charles Squire, aged 35, guilty of famishing, starving, killing and murdering James Green, his apprentice in the parish of Wolverhampton between 14^th February 1798 and 12^th February 1799.  During that time, according to the indictment, Charles and his wife, Hannah, beat the boy from time to time with a hair brush and a red hot iron; bound him to a beam in their shop with a hempen rope and used to leave him there for a long time; kept the boy without sufficient clothing; neglected and refused to give and administer to him sufficient meat and drink and nourishment, so that he died on 12^th February 1799.
